Armenia classic tour /8 days

 

Yerevan – Armavir – Lori – Tavush – Gegharkunik – Eghenadzor – Kotayk - Yerevan  

 

Day 1  Arrival in Yerevan. Transfer to hotel. Accommodation. Evening city walking tour.

 

Day 2  Tour to the National Museum of History of Armenia. Panoramic city tour.

Visit the Museum Matenadaran library of ancient manuscripts. After the museum we will taste the specialties of traditional Armenian cuisine at a local   restaurant.

After visiting the colorful fruit market will conclude the day with a visit to the Monument of the Genocide located on the hill of Tsitsernakaberd, the ''Fortress of the Swallows ''.

Dinner and overnight in Yerevan. 

 

Day 3 In the morning breakfast at the hotel. Visit the Vernissage, the street craft market. After tour to Echmiadzin, ancient capital of Armenia (180-340 AD), churches of St. Gayane and St. Hripsme of the seventh century.

Along with several important early medieval churches located nearby, the cathedral was listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2000.

Lunch in Etchmiadzin.

Tour to the ruins of Zvartnots Cathedral (Temple of the Angels).

Return to Yerevan.

Dinner and overnight.

 

Day 4  Day tour of the North part of Armenia. 

Our first stop will be at the village of Akhtala where we will visit the monastery of Akhtala hosting the most beautiful cycle of frescoes preserved in Armenia and the village of Odzun with the dome of the basilica with a characteristic V - VI century.

Lunch in a local reastaurant.

In the afternoon we will visit two monasteries Sanahin and Haghpat (13th-century). Both monasteries are listed among the UNESCO World Heritage List (1996).

Accommodation in the small village of Haghpat, in a house Bed & Breakfast. In the evening a walk in the village.

Dinner prepared and served by the hostess. Overnight.

 

Day 5  After breakfast we will visit Tavush region. It is well known for its mountains. Here we will visit monastic complexes Goshavank and Haghartsin (12th- 13th-century).

Tour to the peninsula Sevanavank, monastery Sevanavank.Lunch on the shore of Lake Sevan.

Departure to the village of Noraduz. This is a unique place, where one can reveal the development of khachkar art in its historical process.

Return to Yerevan. Dinner and overnight.

 

Day 6  Early morning departure to the South of the country. The first stop in the monastery of Noravank. The 13th century.

Lunch in a local restaurant.

Along the way we will cross the region of Ararat. Stop in Khor Virap, which is the most famous pilgrimage site in Armenia. From the monastery one can admire the stunning view of the Biblical Mount Ararat.

Arrival in Yerevan.

Dinner and overnight.

 

Day 7  Tour to the beautiful monastery of Geghard, located in a deep canyon carved into the rock. It is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage List.

Then we will visit Garni temple. It is unique survived example of heathen culture in Armenia. It is blend of Greco-Roman and Armenian styles.

Lunch in Garni with participation in the preparation of the traditional Armenian bread 'lavash'' and charming walk along the river at the base of the basaltic colonnades.

Return to Yerevan.

Dinner and Overnight.

 

Day 8  Transfer from the hotel to the airport, departure.
